SAUNA: Le Musical! Enfin en francais, à Montréal en 2012.
(Information on casting of BATHHOUSE: The Musical! below.) Recherche 6 comédiens; attirants et en pleine forme, âgés entre 18 et 33 ans; Les comediens qui chantent et dansent: -Deux 1ers rôles: -Benji (‘clear high b-flat’); -Maurice (‘pop-baratone to high a-flat’). Contrats U.D.A./PVSP, partage des recettes brutes. Projet long terme (+1 ans, 2012…), à temps partiel/sur appel, projet local et de tournée. Plus d’information a:www.facebook.com/SaunaBathhouseMusical Productions Village Scène présente la tournée canadienne de: Avec cette comédie musicale burlesque et très gaie, provocante et dévergondée, à distribution entièrement masculine, vous vous tordrez de rires jusqu’à en tomber par terre, et taperez du pied à en faire fondre vos semelles! Joignez-vous à Benjy pour sa première visite au sauna. Il cherche l’amour !!!!… mais il réalise très rapidement que les autres cherchent quelque chose d’un peu plus éphémère! Avec les autres clients du sauna, Maurice, Teddy, et David, on accompagne Benjy dans les couloirs et les chambres du sauna de son quartier. Cette pièce remplie de “grossièretés masculines” est une comédie musicale osée pour un public adulte (18 ans et plus) qui n’a pas tendance à être offensé facilement!. Vous serez bercé par des chansons telles que «Bienvenue au sauna», «Le B.A.BA. du sauna», «La vapeur», «Quand je clique, je trique», «La gym», et «Le tango de la séduction», et «Dans les douches». On se revoit au Sauna! Tout ce que vous avez toujours voulu savoir sur les Gars du Sauna mais que vous aviez peur de demander… venez et voyez ce qui se passe derrière ces portes fermer. -Benjy: (Plus jeune que Maurice et David.) “A tenor, with a clear High B-Flat”. MInce, svelte, à découpé. Poitrine sans poil. Personnage naïf, innocent, intraverti, vulnérable, et inexpérimenté. Il est mignon, adorable, sympathique et non pathétique pour les autres personnages. Il est un peu maladroit, peu sûr de lui mais curieux, sincère et très idéaliste. -Maurice: (Le plus âgé des personnages.) “Pop-Baritone to a High A-flat”. Devrait bien imiter Maurice Chevalier. Taille moyenne à large, bien proportionné et découpé. Devrait être aussi ou plus grand que Benjy. Un gars attirant du Sauna, il devrait dégager un magnétisme sexuel supérieur au reste de la distribution. Par rapport aux autres personnages, il devrait sembler le plus expérimenté et le plus âgé. Son personnage, en surface, est comme le mâle Alpha du ‘Roi Lion’: charmeur mais non sincère, flatteur, manipulateur, agressif, et se sert de son intelligence pour arriver à ses fins. Intérieurement: vulnérable, se sent seul, nostalgique de son passé, de son amour perdu. Tous reconnaissent Maurice au sauna et le respectent, ce pourquoi il ne peut montrer sa douleur intérieure. Seconds rôles: -David: (Plus âgé que Benjy.) “Bari-tenor. Pop Baritone with high G’s”. Devrait maîtriser le riff et avoir un bon “pop falsetto”. Il est très sexy, musclé, et découpé. Nommé d’après la statue ‘David’ de Michelange pour son physique impeccable. Même si David fait le plaisir des yeux de la clientèle entière du Sauna, on apprend qu’en fait il se sent seul, vu que les autres le jugent et sont intimidés par sa beauté. On apprend aussi qu’il est piégé, esclave de son image corporelle. Sa passion pour l’entraînement vient de ses insécurités d’avoir été obèse. Il laisse entendre au long de la pièce qu’il a un intérêt pour Benjy. Troisièmes rôles: (soutien) Gars #1: (Plus âgé que Benjy.) Doit avoir une formation et experience en jeu, chant et danse et posséder une facilité de mouvement naturelle. Il est attirant, et en bonne forme physique, de grandeur et poids proportionnels. Confiant, très sûr de lui, quelque peu exhibitionniste. -Pourrait aussi avoir un des rôles ci-dessus pour l’une ou l’autre des productions en français/anglais. Gars #2: (Même âge ou plus jeune que Benjy.) Doit avoir une formation et experience en jeu, chant et danse et posséder une facilité de mouvement naturelle. Il est attirant, et en bonne forme physique, de grandeur et poids proportionnels. Join Billy in his quest for love at his first visit to the bathhouse where he realizes that the other patrons are looking for something more temporary! With the other bathhouse patrons: Maurice, Teddy, and David, Billy us along as he meanders the hallways, wonders into the spa areas, and adventures into the rooms of his friendly local neighbourhood bathhouse. The Play is for mature audiences with a high tolerance for being offended. Contains adult themes. One thing ‘catchy’ is the ‘tunes’, featuring songs like: ‘Friendly Neighborhood Bathhouse’ ‘Bathhouse ABCs’ ‘The Steam Room’ ‘In The Shower’ ‘The Workout’ ‘Penises Are Like Snow Flakes’ and ‘Clicking For Dick’. And there are also plenty of steamy scantily clad men! See you at the baths! Bathhouse: The Musical! Everything you ever wanted to know about the Bathhouse Boys, but were afraid to ask… come in and see what lays beyond those closed doors. First lead: -Billy: (Portray age, younger than Maurice and David.) -A tenor, with a clear High B-Flat. A slim, trim, to a well toned physical shape. Smooth chest. Character is naïve, innocent, introverted, vulnerable, and inexperienced. He is cute, adorable, and needs to be sympathetic but not pathetic attention from the other characters. He is a bit awkward, unsure yet curious, sincere and very idealistic. Second lead: -Maurice: (Portray age, more mature than the other four roles.) -Pop-Baritone to a High A-flat. Should have a killer Maurice Chevalier impression, (‘Lumiere’ -Disney’s Beauty and the Beast). Medium to large size with proportional toned physical frame. Should be taller or the same height as Billy. An attractive Bathhouse member, he should exude a sexual magnetism unparalleled by the rest of the cast. In relation to the other characters, he should come across as the most experienced and appear to be the oldest. His character on the surface is as the Alpha male a la ‘Lion King’: Charming yet insincere, smarmy, manipulative, aggressive, self-serving, and witty. Internally: vulnerable, lonely, longing for his past, for his lost love. Everyone recognizes Maurice at the bathhouse and respects him, which is why he can’t show his inner pain. Second roles – Supporting cast: -Teddy: (Portray age, same age or younger than Billy.) -Tenor to a B-flat (Falsetto C). Physically he is the boyish ‘Twinky’ type. Smooth chest, with a lean naturally slim swimmer’s build. Character is: sweet, endearing, good-natured, cute, and easily excitable. He was in Billy’s ‘position’ not long ago. He has already gained the wisdom that Billy learns throughout the Play. He is attracted to ‘Bears’ burley hairy men. Must have the ability to make the audience fall in love with his wide-eyed curiosity and sweet innocence, a la Barnaby in Hello, Dolly! -David: (Portray age, older than Billy.) -Bari-tenor. Pop Baritone with high G’s. Should be able to riff and have a strong pop falsetto. Physically he is a ‘Hottie’, muscular, toned, and ripped. Named after the Michelangelo statue ‘David’ for his impeccable physique. Character traits: Though David serves as eye-candy for the entire Bathhouse population, we learn that he is in fact lonely, since others judge him and are actually intimidated by his good looks. We also learn, that he is trapped, he is now a slave to his own self made body image. His passion for working out stems from his insecurities of formerly being out of shape and overweight. He hints throughout the Play that he has an interest in Billy. Chorus/Backup vocals & dance: -Boy #1: (Portray age, older than Billy.) Must have acting, vocal, and dance training, and possess a natural movement ability. He is attractive, and in good physical shape, proportional physical height and weight. Confident, very secure and self assured, somewhat exhibitionist. –Could also be a cast member from one or the other French/English productions. -Boy #2: (Portray age, younger or same age as Billy.) Must have acting, vocal, and dance training, and possess a natural movement ability. He is attractive, and in good physical shape, proportional physical height and weight.
