The Rialto Theatre presents BRILL: A New Showbiz Musical scheduled for April 2012.
Auditions for women and men 18 -35 years of age will be held Sunday, September 4th and 11th and 18th from 10h00 to 15h00 at the Rialto Theatre.

You will be asked to sing a capella, or with your own accompaniment (CD, MP3, etc.), a pop song from the 1950’s or 1960’s. Women should audition with a song from one of the female groups of the era (The Shirelles, The Shangri-La’s, etc.).

The cast will be offered a small honorarium. Roles include:
Roy Jacobs
He is the 25 year old founder of Joy Records. Cunning, manipulative and possessing a Golden Ear, knowing which songs young 14 year old girls will like.
Sheila Abrams
She’s a 17 year old attractive Jewish girl. She has a passion for pop music and an enormous talent to match.
Norm Ross
He’s a 21 year old handsome songwriter. He has a strong sense of right and wrong and an eagerness to become independent.
Big Ben Cooper and Ira Stern
They are a pair of loud and gregarious 27 year old songwriters. Ben is blind and Ira is nebbish but they’re always quick with a joke which they use to mask their cowardice in facing any manipulation by Roy.
Sid Thomas and Debbie Manheim
They are an attractive married couple in their early twenties. They are expecting their first child and desperate for any financial help that can come their way.
Fred Klein
He is a 25 year old record producer. Despite his eccentric working style and ghoulish appearance, he is a recognized musical genius.
Wanda Phillips and the Heartaches
They are all 18 years old and are a sassy, creative singing group. But they will always yield to their temperamental manger, Fred.
Peggy, a middle-aged waitress, a little frazzled but with a kind heart.
Herman Bergman, a hoodlum running a jukebox operation with a crush on Peggy.
Sheila’s Mother, a stereotypical Jewish mother but loving and supportive towards her daughter.
Morty, a shy, studious recording engineer, constantly in fear of Fred’s tantrums.
Guy Hemmingdale, an egotistical but charming TV host.
Dolores Wayne, a buxom and egotistical anti-Semitic lounge singer.
