Tuesday, September 13 (non-Equity)
MUSICAL AUDITIONS:
Wednesday, September 14
Friday, September 16 (non-Equity)
REQUIREMENTS:
Please note: The Shaw Festival’s mandate is to produce plays written during or about the period of Shaw’s lifetime (1856-1950)
Equity Drama: 2 contrasting monologues. Please select at least 1 monologue from the Shaw Festival’s mandate period.
Non-Equity Drama: 1 monologue (it is strongly suggested that the monologue be from the Shaw Festival’s mandate period).
Equity Musical: 1 monologue (it is strongly suggested that the monologue be from the Shaw Festival’s mandate period) PLUS 2 contrasting songs, preferably an up-tempo and a ballad. At least 1 song should be a traditional musical theatre piece – i.e. Gershwin, Porter, Coward, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe, etc. The second song need not be traditional musical theatre – it need not even be a musical theatre song – it should be a piece that shows your strength and your vocal range. Please note: we may only hear one song.
Non-Equity Musical: There may be two auditions. The first audition is one song performed for music director Paul Sportelli. There will be callbacks later that afternoon where 1 monologue (strongly suggested that the monologue be from the Shaw Festival’s mandate period) PLUS 1 song (traditional musical theatre piece – i,e, Gershwin, Porter, Coward, Rodgers and Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner & Lowe etc.) will be performed for Jackie Maxwell.
An accompanist will be provided for musical auditions. Please bring your own music.
Applicants selected for an audition will be contacted to arrange an appointment. Please be advised that due to an overwhelming number of applications each year, we seldom see any Artist two years in a row.
Please send resumes and photos by August 31 to:
